Dance of Destinies – Book 5 of the Galactic Mage Series is Now Available

DD_cover_only_webWell, it seems like “at long last” to me, but I suppose I’ve made pretty good progress getting the fifth installment of the Galactic Mage Series out. There are a lot of plot elements coming together in this book, and I really feel like I’m getting almost halfway decent at telling stories in novel form now, after six books.

If past experience is any indication, I’ll probably look back on the fact I said that right now and, in, say, ten years, I’ll think, “No, dude, you sucked back then, but I hear what you are saying.” I’m never good enough. But, such is the nature of the learning curve. And any artist that has worked at their art for very long can tell you there is this weird back and forth between hating everything you do and thinking you are freaking amazing. So for now,  however long it lasts, I am feeling very full of myself and I just love this one. I have to say that it seems like the easiest reading of them all to me, but maybe it’s because I love all these characters so much . I’ve lived with them all in my head for a very, very, very long time.

So, anyway, if you have been following along in the series, Dance of Destinies is book 5, and the middle book of the next trilogy. Many of the prophecies that began in book 1 (and which were opened up a little more in 2) are coming together. This chapter in the adventure gets us very close to the end that I have been working toward for years. I am fairly confident I can finish the story out in the next book,  although I suspect it will end up being another 800 + pager like Rift in the Races was if can pull it off. Finishing in two trilogies has been the plan for a while now (originally I had it laid out as three trilogies, but it tightened up as I wrote), but I am not going to force myself into any kind of arbitrary page counts or book numbers. One of the most important things I have ever learned about storytelling is that a story takes as long to tell as it takes to tell.  That said, I think  can finish it in one more novel—t least the main thrust of the story that began with The Galactic Mage. (I have lots of plans for singles and trilogies with some of the supporting cast, and I really can’t wait until I can get some time to finish Ilbei Spadebreaker and the Zombie Apple Collapse.)

But, for now, just letting everyone know that Dance of Destinies, the fifth Galactic Mage Series book is done and ready for reading. Thanks to everyone who has been so amazingly supportive as I work through the epic tale. Be patient with this next one. I refuse to rush this.

When does book 5&6 for the galactic Mage series come out for audible? And I very much enjoying the series and really want to keep enjoying them. The story arch really sucks me in.

    Hi Ryan,

Dance of Destinies (book 5) is in pre-production for the audio book version, and book 6 (Outcomes is the working title) is about 250 pages into the first draft in written form. So, likely will be end of 2015 for both or thereabouts. I’m kicking around releasing audio of 5 and 6 at the same time, just so audio fans won’t have to wait. Not a promise, but definitely something the narrator and I have discussed.
