Hostiles Update for March: The Galactic Mage Book 3 Progress

Galactic Mage Book 3 ProgressProgress is coming along nicely for Hostiles, the third book in The Galactic Mage series. I did run into a bit of a delay working on it, as I’ve been a bit caught up in the process of getting an audio book going for The Galactic Mage (book 1). However, that is well underway now, and I’m back on track again. After a few days to catch up on some contract writing projects, I am now ready to start the 4.0 round of revisions.

Round 3.0 (and 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3) was mainly concerned with Orli’s character. I didn’t think she was strong enough in my first draft—half of my Beta readers felt it was the case too—so I almost completely rewrote her character for the first half of the book. I think it’s much better now. Needless to say, however, that required a lot of redoing of other things, because writing a novel is like setting up a fancy arrangement of dominoes to knock down: if you start moving things around and changing stuff, you have to change everything that those changes touch and so on. Facebook Pages for Authors and Books: The Funnel Is Your Friend

1 - Facebook Works for WritersI see lots of conversations on writers’ websites and forums about whether or not Facebook is a good place for writers to connect with readers. Many writers just ask if it’s any good for “marketing” or “generating sales.” There are many opinions on that, and many reasons why there are many opinions, which could be an article all by itself, so I won’t go into that. I’ll just say that I am an advocate for writers using Facebook.

Authors who approach their page as a way to connect with readers will do better than people who think of it solely as a means of getting book sales. This is something I’ve seen said a zillion times before, and yet people still struggle with making Facebook work. I think the reason for that is that in most articles I’ve read, most videos and webinars I’ve watched, that idea is tossed out as either a given or as a obligatory thing they say right before heading into their list of the “Hot Five New Facebook Techniques to Make You Rich.” Continue reading Facebook Pages for Authors and Books: The Funnel Is Your Friend
